There is a great affinity and bonding between Puerto Rico and the northernmost region of Corsica, known as Cape Corse. Most of the Corsican immigrants to Puerto Rico came from the “communes”or small towns of Cape Corse. Most of them were sailors, shepherds,small farmers and although most of them were able to read and write, very few had an education beyond the equivalent of an 8th grade.
